Full house: Coworking space provider WeWork is expanding its presence in Tysons, bringing Lerner Enterprise’s tower at 1775 Tysons Blvd. to 100 percent occupancy. Michael Neibauer of the Washington Business Journal reports that WeWork will occupy more than 154,000 square feet on three floors of the building that also includes EY, DXC Technology and Park Hotels & Resorts as tenants.

Center of attention: The Virginia Department of General Services is accepting bids through July 22 for the 28.3-acre site Center for Innovative Technology site that straddles Fairfax and Loudoun counties. Daniel J. Sernovitz of the Washington Business Journal notes that one potential developer, Middleburg-based Crimson Partners, is floating plans for a 1.1 million-square-foot mixed-use development on the property. Fairfax County last year approved higher development limits on its portion of the site.

Instantly mammoth: L3Harris Technologies became the sixth-largest defense contractor in the U.S. when the all-stock merger of L3 Technologies and the Harris Corporation was announced Monday. William McCormick of ExecutiveBiz reports that L3Harris employs more than 50,000 and generates about $17 billion in revenue, with customers for its advanced defense and commercial technologies in 130 countries. The combined company is headquartered in Melbourne, Fla. Each company has maintained facilities in Herndon and Chantilly, with L3 also operating in Centreville.

Not just any salute: The Washington Business Journal feted its first-ever Veterans in Business Award winners on June 27. Among those receiving recognition were: Kimberly Hayes, CEO of The Ambit Group, a business management consulting firm in Tysons; Francis Hoang, partner at FH+H, a Tysons-based law firm; Mark Rockefeller, CEO of StreetShares, a provider of small-business loans based in Reston; and Frank Tucker, CEO of health-information technology firm MicroHealth, headquartered in Tysons.

Growth is Contegix: Contegix, a Reston-based managed-service provider that focuses on apps to improve customer experiences, says it completed four acquisitions during the past two years and has more than 1,000 enterprise customers. Potomac Tech Wire noted the growth and linked to the company site.

All’s fare: With the advent of transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft, demand for taxicab certificates has diminished substantially in Fairfax County. The Tysons Reporter‘s Vernon Miles writes that no new certificates were issued at the June 25 Board of Supervisors meeting. With the number of cabs in the county declining from 654 to 368 since 2016, the board expressed the need to maintain an adequate number of wheelchair-accessible vehicles.

New deposit: Trustar Bank will open in Great Falls on July 10, making it the first new bank to open in the Washington area in more than a decade. According to Andy Medici of the Washington Business Journal, Trustar also plans to open a commercial-lending office in Tysons and a branch in Reston Town Center. The last new bank to open in the region was Fairfax-based FVCBank in 2007.

More banking news: Old Dominion National Bank, which moved its headquarters from Charlottesville to Tysons, has quadrupled in size according to Andy Medici’s story for Washington Business Journal subscribers. Management says the bank, which had $56 million in assets in 2016, is on track to eclipse $10 million in revenue and become profitable this year.
