FCEDA India staff based in Bangalore and Mumbai discussed the advantages of establishing a local office in the U.S. with India-based company representatives at many networking events across India in the second half of the year. Discussions focused on how the expansion to the U.S. would benefit the India-based companies for the purposes of a better delivery of services, enhanced business development opportunities, and establishing stronger customer relationships.

India Innovation Summit

Bonny Agarwal, manager, FCEDA India, met with representatives of more than 50 Indian companies at the 15th CII India Innovation Summit in August. With the theme of Innovation Manifesto for India, the event’s main objective was to create a platform for technocrats, young innovators and policymakers to interact and focus on innovation. More than 1,000 visitors attended the event in which about 200 exhibitors showcased their products and services.

Additional noteworthy events that FCEDA staff attended included: IoT India Congress, Bangalore and InfoComm India, Mumbai, in August; and Automation Expo, Mumbai, in September. At the events FCEDA staff interacted with nearly 100 companies.

Reception at U.S. Consulate in Mumbai

FCEDA India staff attended a welcome reception for David J. Ranz, the new U.S. Consul General at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai. In addition to strengthening the relationship with local U.S. Commercial Service offices and embassies, FCEDA India staff articulated the advantages of Fairfax County – with its proximity to Washington, D.C., and the county’s large technology community, as a gateway for Indian businesses interested in accessing the U.S. market.

Outreach Mission to Chennai and Mumbai

In November, the FCEDA India team embarked on an outreach mission to Chennai and Mumbai, where they hosted informational events for local businesses, as well as conducted one-to-one meetings with prospects interested in locating an office in the U.S.

Held in partnership with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Chennai, the event featured a case-study presentation by Mahe Rangareddy of Fairfax County-based Alpha Omega Integration. The case study was live-streamed from McLean, Va.

In Mumbai, FCEDA received a solid endorsement from Nasreen Kasture of Hexaware Technologies, one of Fairfax County’s largest Indian companies by number of employees. Executives from Ahmedabad, Gujarat-based companies also attended the event.

Global Entrepreneur Summit in Delhi

In Delhi, FCEDA hosted an exhibitor both at the Indus Entrepreneur’s TiE Global Summit on Nov. 14. With the theme of “Indian Startups, Global Footprint,” the event drew more than 3,000 people from 15 countries.

Software Marketing Summit

Beena Jain, business investment associate at FCEDA India (Mumbai) attended the MarTech Summit on Nov. 28. Organized by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), the event’s focus was to assist with navigating the latest marketing technologies that are predicted to drive business during the next decade.

With the theme of “Beyond 2020: Marketing in the Age of Data, Intelligence and Experience,” the event lured practitioners across diverse industries in the marketing value chain, including brand agencies, digital agencies, new age technology companies, marketers and platforms.

Jain met with representatives from more than 15 companies who expressed interest in exploring business opportunities in the U.S., including discussions with companies on the costs and benefits of setting up a Fairfax County-based office location.
