Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (FCEDA), issued a statement about Sharon Bulova, who announced today that she would not seek another term after serving almost 10 years as chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Gordon said: “Chairman Bulova has been a strong and effective proponent of economic growth, the Economic Development Authority and for me, personally, for many years. The effects of her leadership will be felt throughout the county for generations to come. Her support of our global outreach marketing has been particularly forward-looking and effective over the years.”

Bulova assumed the role of chairman following a special election in February 2009. Before that, she served as the Braddock District member on the Board of Supervisors since 1987.

The FCEDA promotes Fairfax County around the globe as one of the world’s best business locations. As part of that effort, the FCEDA created an International Division that works with companies from other nations that want to locate or expand a presence in Fairfax County. This effort also includes the establishment of permanent offices in six important technology centers around the world: Bangalore, Berlin, London, Los Angeles, Seoul and Tel Aviv.

More than 400 companies from 47 countries have a presence in Fairfax County.
