IT Startup Backs Multiple Expansions with Tech Talent and D.C. Connection in Fairfax County

Steadfast reliability, maintainability and intuitiveness is why federal agencies like the Department of Defense depend on Kreative Technologies (Kreative).

Founded in 2013, the Fairfax-based IT firm began by delivering mission critical systems to the Military Health System: the world’s preeminent military health care delivery operation. Kreative supported MHS’ mission in saving lives on the battlefield, combating infectious disease around the world and providing health technology services through direct care to military hospitals and clinics for about 9.6 million beneficiaries, composed of uniformed service members, military retirees and family members. Today, Kreative has evolved into a technology leader for the healthcare, defense and civilian sectors in providing Shared Services, Modernization, Emerging Technology and Enterprise-Wide Solutions. The Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Air Force and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) are some of the organizations that rely on Kreative’s expertise.

A track record of successes led this small disadvantaged, SBA 8(a) certified company to double its workforce in 2020. That same year, Kreative grew its Fairfax presence and upgraded to an 11,000 square foot facility. Kreative announced in early 2021 a $1.5 million investment to quadruple its local workforce. The expansion earned support from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority and the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity.

To support its growth, Kreative leans into the Fairfax County talent pipeline. With a workforce of 600,000-plus, the county is fertile ground for Kreative, which is projected to fill nearly 300 new jobs within the next 4 years. More than 60 percent of the region’s population holds a bachelor’s degree. Recruitment extends to the surrounding Greater Washington area and is a short 30-minute commute to the nation’s capital, which creates easy access to federal clients.
